Selenobrachys philippinus (Philippine Tangerine)

One of my personal favorite tarantula species, and for good reason. This is the only spider we’ve ever had bolt straight up to my head and steal my hat during a livestream. Occupational hazard, I guess.

That moment came during a rehouse using the old “poke and pray” approach, which, to be clear, is exactly why these spiders demand respect. Fast, confident, and unpredictable in the best and worst ways.

Incredible color, tons of personality, and a fun species to work with if you’re prepared for their speed.
