We originally planned to pair these, but other projects jumped the line and we ended up with all females. No complaints there.
We keep quite a few widow species, and what really stands out with variolus, aside from how sleek and striking they are, is their webbing behavior. Each one has built something different for us. Funnel systems, a single funnel emerging from the substrate, even funnels set high in the enclosure. They’re all over the place, and it makes them incredibly engaging to watch.
