 This species is a relatively slow grower, which we actually see as a huge plus. Slower growth often correlates with a longer lifespan, so you’re getting a spider you can enjoy for many years rather than something that rockets to maturity.

At smaller sizes, our Lava Spider spent a lot of time hidden, especially around molts. With patience and a hands off approach, it eventually began staying out on display consistently. Ours is now just over 2" toe to toe and regularly visible.

And really… a spider that looks like it’s made of lava? How could we not keep these. Photos don’t fully do these justice once they start coloring up.
